It's finally here, the results of the only poll that counts in dance music, the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs of 2009.
London's Ministry of Sound flung open its doors at 9pm with the queue already around the block. Those clubbers lucky enough to get in were in for a treat, as behind the decks getting things into full swing was this year's No.9, up 14 places, the mighty Gareth Emery.
Never failing to get the dance floor masses rockin, Gareth cooked up an amazing set proving why he is among the top 10 DJs in the world.
This year's coverage was beamed live across the world via the good people at BeAt TV. As the number of web users keen to catch the coverage grew, there was a few glitches in the stream, but the guys at BeAt TV sorted these problems out quickly. Top marks!
From the coverage you could see that in the DJ booth the Ministry was packing the very best tech that the industry has to offer. Nothing less than Pioneer CDJ-2000s would do, with the who's who of dance music in the building.
DJ Mag had also setup a live Twitterfall stream running all night, showing comments posted on twitter using the #top100djs hash tag. Reactions were coming in thick and fast as the results were announced, counting down from 100 to number 5.
Then, at midnight the coverage switched over to the main awards ceremony presented on stage by none other than New Order and Hacienda legend, Peter Hook.
With the crowd cheering Peter began the ceremony by presenting the following awards:
Highest Drum & Bass DJ of 2009 - John B
Highest Hard Dance DJ of 2009 - Lisa Lashes
Highest New Entry of 2009 - Sebastian Ingrosso
Highest Climber of 2009 - Steve Angello and Cosmic Gate
Highest Techno DJ of 2009 - Carl Cox
Highest Progressive DJ of 2009 - Sasha
Highest Psy Trance DJs of 2009 - Infected Mushroom
Highest House DJ of 2009 - David Guetta
With the awards over, it was time to reveal the No.1 DJ in this year's Top 100. 2009's No.1 DJ, non-mover and now 3 times winner, Trance master Armin Van Buuren. Armin was on his honeymoon when he got the call from DJ Mag HQ. Congratulations go to Armin and his team on his third consecutive win.
Another non-mover the in Top 10 was fellow Trance guru, the mighty Tiesto. With a new album out, new label and Ibiza residency, it's certainly been as the man himself put it "a very good year!".
After receiving his awards Armin hit the decks, stamping his mark on proceedings in the main room. The coverage was amazing, and you really got a sense of the atmosphere at the Ministry as Armin belted out track after track.
