King of Pop Dies
Pop legend Michael Jackson dies aged 50
Pop star and legend Michael Jackson has died aged 50 in L.A.The star was rushed to UCLA medical centre after being discovered not breathing at 12:30pm (7pm GMT) in his Bel Air home. The star suffered a suspected cardiac arrest, and paramedics performed CPR as the ambulance took him to hospital, officials said.
The Los Angeles Times newspaper and TMZ.com, an entertainment website, announced the news early. But then after 26 minutes of rumours of Michael being in a deep comma, BBC News confirmed he had died.
At approximately 00:40am (GMT on 26/06/09) L.A coroner Fred Coral confirmed the singer was pronounced dead on arrival at the L.A medical centre at 12:46pm California time.
BBC News led with a web feed of their live news channel coverage, including a brief live interview by phone with close friend Uri Geller, who sounded deeply saddened and shocked by the news.
The star was due to begin a series of 50 farewell concerts with an appearance at London's O2 arena on 13 July. A history of health problems had coursed Michael not complete a concert tour in 12 years.
Regardless of Michael Jackson's personal life, he remains a deeply loved, respected and admired pop legend. He will be missed.
My thoughts and wished are with his family, friends and fans. Rest in peace.

Mixmag Buys DontStayIn.com
DontStayIn.com, one of the most popular social networking sites for clubbers has been bought by Development Hell, the publisher behind UK based music magazines The Word and Mixmag, one of the longest running dance music magazines in the UK.
The deal by the London-based publisher, understood to have been in the works since October 2008, is said to be worth just less than £1 million. It will see all seven of the current DSI staff brought in house, to continue developing and running the site at Development Hells Islington offices in London.
Launched in 2003 by Southampton based trio Tim Aylott and brothers David and John Brophy, DSI (dontstayin.com) quickly established itself as the premiere site for club listings, allowing clubbers to post pictures and discus their weekend clubbing antics.
Winning numerous Hit Wise awards and being featured on Channel 4's Trouble Online series, DSI boasts 1 million unique visitors per month and 20 million monthly page impressions, plus a user base of over 400,000 with over 11 million photos currently online. In recent years the traffic to the site has dropped off, no-doubt affected by the popularity of sites such as Facebook, MySpace and Bebo.
The takeover by Development Hell also sees the departure of Tim Aylott, founder and director in charge of business development, and we wish him all the best for the future.
Development Hell was started in 2001 by David Hepworth and Jerry Perkins, with Guardian Media Group owning a minority stake in the company. In 2003 it launched The Word which has been named Music Magazine of the Year by Record of the Day for the last two years. In 2006 the company bought Mixmag from EMAP and has since invested in restoring the magazine's production values and extending its activities into the web, podcasting and outside events.
"We are REALLY excited about this deal," says John Brophy, "and are really looking forward to the synergy that is created by having DSI, The Word and Mixmag all in the same offices."
The deal will also see DSI relaunched in the coming weeks, with a fresh new look and what was described as "sensitive cross-promotion" with Mixmag capitalizing on the popularity of DSI, which generates 65% of its revenue from small and medium-scale club promoters.

The Prodigy Album Out Now!!!
Well if you don't already know the long awaited "Invaders Must Die" has hit the stores.
The killer new album sees The Prodigy return to form as the much loved and respected cult dance act.
When the title track was described as "drums of doom" by Radio 1's Zane Lowe, I knew deep down this was going to be an amazing album, and they haven't failed to deliver.
With echo's of the classic "Everybody in the Place / No Good Shut up and Dance" 90's rave sound, but just a little bit more like a maniac on steroids, it almost seems to tear its way out of the speakers.
With out a doubt you will hear allot more from this album over the coming months, and it has already become a permanent fixture in my car.
If you love the music, you will love the videos. Check Prodigy's MUZU TV channel at www.muzu.tv/theprodigy for videos from the current and past albums all the way back to "Out of Space". The video for "Omen" features footage from there energy filled live shows.
Invaders Must Die is available on iTunes and all good music stores. Check out www.invadersmustdie.com for more details.

Noise Limiters - Stop the Legislation
It has come to our attention that the U.K government is planning to make an amendment to the Entertainment Licensing regulations, making it a legal requirement that all venues applying, or re-applying for an entertainment license in the UK must have a Sound Control Device, or noise limiter fitted to the venue.
This will affect all nightclubs, bars, and live music venues, forcing them to bring the sound levels down and there for affecting the atmosphere of the night.
A petition has been setup against this amendment to the law at Number 10s official government website. If you feel strongly against this amendment to the Entertainment Licensing that will affect the whole late night entertainment industry, then please sign the petition here: http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/NoNoiseControl.
You only have until 23rd January 2009 to do so. Special thanks go to Pablo of the London based trance promotion Knowwhere for bring this to our attention.

The Prodigy - New Album!
The news that Prodigy fans have been waiting for is here. The new long awaited album "Invaders Must Die" will be hitting stores on 2nd March 2009.
Released on The Prodigy's imprint, Take Me To The Hospital, through Cooking Vinyl, it features Liam Howlett, Keith Flint and Maxim for the first time since the release of Fat Of The Land back in 1997. "Invaders Must Die" sees a return to their bone shaking best, a collision of old skool rave noise with the stratospheric limits of new technology.
